At its core, Scouting is a values-based youth development program. These values are summarized in a group of statements:

• Scout Motto: Always Be Prepared
• Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best
• Scout Slogan: Do a Good Turn Daily
• Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
• Scout Law: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, & Reverent.

Yes! The basic premise of Scouting for youth with disabilities is that all youth want to participate fully and be valued like every other member of the Pack. While there are units exclusively composed of Scouts with disabilities, experience has shown that Scouting usually succeeds best when we recognize and celebrate the unique contributions of every Scout.

We meet every other Wednesday from 6:30pm – 7pm at the Lighthouse Room on the second floor of the Key Biscayne Community Center.

Pack 149 frequently participates in activities at Camp Elmore, a 120-acre camp that provides weekend and overnight camping for more than 8,000 Scouts and families annually. The camp features a stocked 9-acre lake for fishing, archery fields, 2 program pavilions, greenhouses, and other facilities for our Scouts’ enjoyment.

There are other activities outside of Key Biscayne that vary throughout the year and will be announced with ample notice to accommodate schedules and registration deadlines.

The uniform serves to promote a sense of camaraderie among Cub Scouts while proudly displaying their achievements and rank advancements. No Scout is turned away or admonished for not wearing the right thing.

Scouts wear two uniform types: the official Class A uniform and the outdoor activity Class B uniform. Uniforms are standardized and consist of various components depending on rank and specific requirements. Don’t worry, the staff at the Scout Shop know what you uniforms are needed to get to be a member of Pack 149.

Annual Scout Fees

• Scouting America (Boy Scouts of America): The annual fee is $133, payable to the “South Florida BSA Council”.
• Pack 149: The annual fee is $50, payable to our Non-Profit Charter, “Parents of Miami Scouts Organization”.

What are these fees used for?

• National Scouting America & South Florida Council Fee: Your $133 annual fee supports program development, leader training, insurance, South Florida campground maintenance, technology infrastructure for managing registrations, digital records, youth protection training, background checks, recruitment and other resources for scouts and adult volunteer leaders.
• Pack 149 Fee: The $50 annual fee helps cover meeting materials, awards, merit badges, and the rechartering of Pack 149 every year with the Charter Organization.

These fees ensure a smooth and enriching experience for all our scouts, filled with valuable learning opportunities and fun activities!

If you registered online, you can pay the BSA Fee online. If you Register in person, we kindly request that the fees be paid by check payable to Parents of Miami Scouts Organization and give to Pack 149 Treasurer or Cubmaster at the next meeting. Unfortunately, currently we are not able to receive payments via Apple Pay, Zelle, Venmo, or other cash apps. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Scoutbook.com is a global web-based tool provided by Scouting America (Boy Scouts of America) designed to help Scouts, parents, and unit leaders manage and track various aspects of their scouting experience. It offers features such as advancement tracking, messaging and forums, service hours tracking, logging of hiking and camping activities, and event scheduling. Additionally, if a Scout moves to another city, their advancements are portable and will not be lost. This service is included in the registration fees and are available to every unit, Scoutbook is an invaluable resource for organizing and enhancing the scouting experience.

Participants in any Scouting event must complete medical forms annually. Forms A and B, contain relevant health history, parental/legal guardian informed consent, and release statement. Participants in any Scouting event that exceeds 72 consecutive hours must have a medical exam to complete and sign Form C. Please check with your Cubmaster for any changes regarding these medical forms.
